一首登在華盛頓郵報的詩

中國現時飽受國際的不公平對待與抨擊，應該如何面對？《華盛頓郵報》日前刊出一首由紐約州立大學水牛城分校榮譽退休物理學教授Duo-Liang Lin 經朋友電郵收到的詩。詩內道出西方對中國的雙重標準，很值得我們深思，特轉截於此與大家分享。

When we were the Sick Man of Asia, We were called The Yellow Peril.
When we are billed to be the next Superpower, we are called The Threat.
When we closed our doors, you smuggled drugs to open markets.
When we embrace Free Trade, You blame us for taking away your jobs.
When we were falling apart, You marched in your troops and wanted your fair share.
When we tried to put the broken pieces back together again, Free Tibet you screamed, It Was an Invasion!

When tried Communism, you hated us for being Communist.
When we embrace Capitalism, you hate us for being Capitalist.
When we have a billion people, you said we were destroying the planet.
When we tried limiting our numbers, you said we abused human rights.

When we were poor, you thought we were dogs.
When we loan you cash, you blame us for your national debts.

When we build our industries, you call us Polluters.
When we sell you goods, you blame us for global warming.

When we buy oil, you call it exploitation and genocide.
When you go to war for oil, you call it liberation.
When we were lost in chaos and rampage, you demanded rules of law.
When we uphold law and order against violence, you call it violating human rights.

When we were silent, you said you wanted us to have free speech.
When we are silent no more, you say we are brainwashed-xenophobics.

Why do you hate us so much, we asked.
No, you answered, we don't hate you.
We don't hate you either,

But, do you understand us?
Of course we do, you said,
We have AFP, CNN and BBC's...
What do you really want from us?

Think hard first, then answer...
Because you only get so many chances.
Enough is Enough, Enough Hypocrisy for This One World.
We want One World, One Dream, and Peace on Earth.
This Big Blue Earth is Big Enough for all of Us.


當我們仍然是東亞病夫時，我們被稱為黃禍。
當我們被冠為下一個超級大國時，我們亦被視為威脅。
當我們關上門户時，你們用毒品來打開市場。
當我們奉行自由貿易時，你們責駡我們搶去工作。
當我們積弱分列時，你們就用軍隊到來搶略。
當我們重建破碎的國土時，你們說那是侵略。

當我們試行共產主義，你們恨我們是共產分子。
當我們擁抱資本主義，你們又恨我們是資本家。
當我們有十億人民時，你們說我們在摧毀這個星球。
當我們控制人口時，你們說我們打壓人權。

當我們貧窮時，你們叫我們做「狗」。
當我們借錢給你們時，你們罵我們害你負債。

當我們建設工業時，你們稱我們是污染者。
當我們賣給你們商品時，你們責備我們助長了溫室效應。

當我們購買石油時，你們稱是剝削和種族屠殺。
而當你們為石油而發動戰爭時，你們稱之為解放。

當我們在動亂時，你們要求法治。
當我們依法鎮治暴亂時，你們稱違反了人權。
當我們沉默時，你們要我們有言論自由。
當我們不再沉默時，你們稱我們是洗腦式的仇外。

我們不禁要問，你們為什麼那麼恨我們？
不，我們不恨你們，你們說。
我們也不恨你們，但是你們理解我們嗎？
當然呀，我們有媒體AFP，CNN和BBCs，你們說。
你們到底想我們怎樣？

你要我們怎做呢? 請你細心想透、才好回答
沒有太多的機會與時間
夠了！夠了！ 在這唯一的世界 再容許不下太多的偽善!
我們想要的是在這和平的地上，在同一個世界上，大家有同一個夢想。
這個藍色的星球理應足夠讓我們和平共處。
